BIO: Detailed & Lengthy Version

bdaymanydivascrop2.jpgJENNIFER GARAM graduated summa cum laude from Boston College with a degree in English and Theatre. She has studied writing at the Northwestern University Summer Writers’ Conference, Sarah Lawrence Playwriting Conference, and Ensemble Studio Theatre, and acting at The Neighborhood Playhouse and The Barrow Group. Three of Jennifer’s one-act plays have been selected for The Samuel French Festival (To Jonny, With…Love? in 2001 and For Ever After in 2003, both of which she also acted in, and Unexpected in 2007 which she produced). In addition to readings at the Time Inc. Author Connection Reading Series, The Lark Play Development Center, and The Belt Theatre, she has performed her solo material at the Drama Desk Award-Winning Barrow Group Theatre, and is a card-carrying member of The Dramatists Guild of America, Inc. Jennifer’s celebrity music articles have appeared in Interview magazine, she produced the documentary film Singing Out Loud about singer-songwriter Gavin DeGraw, and back-in-the-day she used to host, write, and develop content for a Manhattan Cable television program about entertainment and culture, for which she got to interview celebrities and emerging talents in the arts and fashion in fabulous NYC. In this day, she writes the blog “One Writeous Chick” at www.writeouschicks.wordpress.com, and her writing can also be found on DailyOm.com, DivineCaroline.com, the blog “Hip Slope Mama,” Health.com, and The Huffington Post.

Jennifer has a diverse background which includes but is by no means limited to working in the Consumer Marketing Department at TIME Magazine, in the Ad Sales Department at Marie Claire Magazine, for an investment banking recruiting firm, and at many waitressing and one bartending job(s). The strangest job she ever had was a (brief) stint at a juice bar/coffee house/tanning salon during her senior year of high school. (This establishment has since gone out of business.)

As the founder of WRITEOUS CHICKS®, Jennifer teaches writing workshops for women with an emphasis on personal growth, self-care, and having fun, and she encourages her students (and herself) to boldly & courageously embrace all aspects of themselves as they find and celebrate their writing voice. She has been practicing yoga for 11 years, and infuses her passion for spirituality in all her teachings.
