Jennifer Garam is a coffee-guzzling, yoga-mat-toting, bookstore-browsing writer, editor, and teacher. She’s a regular contributor to The Frisky, where she writes dating and relationship advice and personal essays, and a blogger for The Huffington Post and Psychology Today. In addition, her relationship, personal growth, and health and wellness articles have appeared on Health.com, addiction/recovery website TheFix.com, YourTango, elephant journal, Crazy Sexy Life, and DivineCaroline.com, and her celebrity music profiles have been featured in Interview Magazine. She’s worked at Time Inc. as a Web editor at AllYou.com, a women’s lifestyle site that focuses on living well on a budget, and has also written articles for All You Magazine. In 2006 Jennifer founded Writeous Chicks, merging personal development and writing to empower women to express their unique voices. She teaches writing workshops for women with an emphasis on self-care, healing, and having fun, coaches clients individually, and writes the blog One Writeous Chick about creativity and self-esteem. She’s also led workshops at lululemon athletica, Sheila Kelley’s S Factor, The Educational Alliance, and the REVEAL Conference about women and spirituality at Donna Karan’s Urban Zen. Having practiced yoga for the past 14 years, two years ago she launched the yoga blog NotSoZen YogaJen, where she writes about being a Type A urbanite using yoga to help manage anxiety and depression. Back-in-the-day as an actress, she performed her solo material at The Barrow Group Theatre, hosted a Manhattan Cable television program about New York City entertainment and culture, and wrote plays, three of which were selected for The Samuel French Festival. In this day, she hasn’t given up performing entirely, if you count dancing around her apartment to R&B tunes. Jennifer proudly lives and writes in Brooklyn.
